A perfectly setup guitar is an absolute joy to play, but a poorly setup instrument is difficult, discouraging… even painful.
Your instrument should play cleanly, easily and in tune, free of buzzing frets or rattles.
There is no one setup that is “good enough” for all players. A customized setup takes into consideration the style of music the guitarist plays, the gauge of strings used, humidity conditions, etc.
Every setup includes a thorough inspection, followed by the following adjustments:
-
Neck relief (truss rod adjustment)
-
Action – string height at first fret and twelfth fret (adjust depth of nut slots and saddle profile/height)
-
Intonation (plays in-tune up the neck)
-
Electronics check (if applicable)
-
Tighten tuning machines and lube (if applicable)
-
Oil fretboard and bridge (if applicable)
-
Clean and polish body and neck (if applicable)
-
Re-string (We exclusively sell and use Curt Mangan strings – handmade in Colorado – but you are welcome to supply your own strings if you wish)
-
Test play
Every instrument will play and sound better with a proper setup!
