Fret Work

Depending upon how often/long you play and your style of playing, re-fretting your guitar should be considered a regular, necessary job. Kind of like changing out your spark plugs, re-fretting a guitar isn’t something you do at every tuneup. But when it needs to be done, well, you need to get it done and done expertly. Whether you need a “cowboy” re-fret (1-3), a typical partial re-fret (1-7), or even a full re-fret, we can get the job done for you quickly and well.

If you have flat spots on your frets that are causing your strings to buzz or play out of tune, or perhaps a raised fret, sometimes that problem can be solved by “dressing” the frets. Dressing involves leveling and re-crowning, without replacing the frets. Most guitars can be leveled and crowned once or twice before requiring a re-fret job.

In all cases, the fret ends are made flush with the fretboard and rounded over for playing comfort. If that is all you need done (usually because you let the guitar get too dry) it is a pretty quick job, but no substitute for keeping your guitar properly humidified.
